Wednesday Wishlist #5: ASOS Sale

I had been happily browsing through the ASOS site this last week, but unfortunately it was just "window shopping."  Having just moved into my house, and filled it with furniture, it's safe to say I'm pretty skint at the moment.  An Access All ASOS e-mail dropped into my inbox this afternoon giving Insiders an opportunity to win a voucher towards their wishlist!  I was on it...

First on my wishlist is this pair of faded blue Vans.  My Vans are pretty destroyed and I am still wearing my biker boots even though it's sweltering outside, so these would be perfect for bringing a bit of Summer into my style!  Even though I love my current Vans, I have always wanted a blue pair like these, so for this bargain price...well they need to mine.

I had spotted the Yes To range on ASOS a while back, so I'm pleasantly surprised to find some bits of theirs in the sale.  I've never tried the brand before, but have heard lots of great things about their products.  My skin is continuing to play up, despite being on tablets from the doctors, so I'd like to try the brand starting with the Yes To Tomatoes Balancing Moisturiser said to help reduce redness and blemishes.

I love midi skirts and everyone always compliments my figure when I wear them, and whilst it's a bit hot at the moment to crack them out, I think they are a wardrobe staple.  I also love this bottle green colour!  This one is from AX Paris and is a jersey style, so isn't your full on office pencil skirt.

Despite being completely skint, I have a holiday booked next month!  I have done no holiday clothes shopping, so I thought I'd slip in a nice playsuit!  I love this monochrome floral printed playsuit and think the swing fit would be really flattering on my shape.  I also think the contrast in colours would look amazing with a tan...even though I am definitely a burner over a tanner.

Probably my favourite item on this weeks wishlist...this Monki Denim Biker Jacket.  I have been after a denim jacket these past few months, but whilst I love the light acid denim jackets, this faded black denim jacket is much more my style and I could see myself getting a lot of wear out of this!  I love it!

Wednesday Wishlist #4

Well it has been a while since I last wrote out a Wednesday Wishlist...  I have to admit, I've been pretty naughty lately and anything that I have wanted, I've kind of just bought.  Within reason, of course.  Most of my recent purchases have been bought with Christmas funds and birthday money, but now...well I'm probably scraping the barrel of the birthday bucket.

My absolute favourite film of all time is The Little Mermaid.  These pyjamas just outright need to be mine.  The shorts are ideal for the warmer months coming in, and it's The Little Mermaid...just end of really.  Mine.

Way back in September, I was lusting after MAC's Lady Danger lipstick in one of my previous Wednesday Wishlists.  Whilst I still like that shade, I think I prefer the application of a lip colour through a lip pencil.  This NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil is the perfect red toned orange and I am dying to try this one out.  I've got a few bits from NARS, mainly skincare and an eyeliner, all of which is untouched until I've finished what I'm using at the moment.  So if I got this, this could be the start of a NARS love affair as I've heard good things about these.

Sticking with the favourites excuse, Gerberas are my absolute favourite flowers.  So these Clinique Cheek Pop blushes are looking pretty amazing to me.  These aren't due for release until March, but I have a gift voucher with these written all over it.  These colours are Berry Pop and Peach Pop.  I don't know why because the weather is bloody awful where I am, dead miserable and gloomy, but I'm really eyeing up my Spring wardrobe and am excited to be cracking out the brighter colours in my make up stash.

Another product preview is this Vivienne Westwood X ASOS clutch bag from the Ethical Africa collection.  I really love the striking pattern on this, and whilst it's probably on the bottom of the list of things that I could actually afford to buy on this wishlist, it's my favourite item and think this would be perfect for everything.  It can be dressed up as an evening bag, as well as cracked out for Summer afternoons in the Pub Garden.  So really...an investment piece for me.  We'll see how that one goes down...this is available on Friday I think!

These boots are from New Look.  I've been constantly stalking the website every day this week for these to come back in stock.  I have a New Look voucher that I've been waiting to spend, and I need these boots!  They're very similar to boots that I already have, but these don't have a cut out meaning I could wear them probably a bit more than I do my cut outs.  I love the chunky heel and biker style.

What I've Bought: ASOS

Since before Christmas, I have had an outrageous number of items in my saved basket on ASOS.  Let me put this out there - ASOS is a dangerous place.  It is too good, and has too much stuff on, but everything is too nice to leave behind so...I bought the majority of my basket, spent my birthday money and probably even a smidge more.

The only positive I can think to point out is that everything was on the sale, and I had a sneaky ASOS Insider discount code which I was allowed to use on sale items!  I've skimmed my basket down to show you my favourite bits of what I scouted from the sale!

1.  I have been meaning to switch up my wardrobe for a while now, I'm very much a leggings/jeans girl because that's all that I own.  One pair of good leggings, and one pair of good jeans.  I know...deprived.  So I bought this dress - it's the ASOS Smock Dress In Nepi and I bought mine in green.  It also came in coral and a gorgeous blue, but I have a lot of this bright blue in my wardrobe so fancied a change.  It's half price in the sale at £12.50.

2.  This dress is the Motel Elsa Skull Dress.  It's £35 down from £60, and I think is one of those patterns which are a bit deceptive.  I think it looks like a nice lacey/paisley patterning, but on closer look, it's actually little skulls with a bit of a Mexican sugar skull feel.  Really like this, and I will be wearing this on my next night out!

3.  The item that has been in my basket the longest, and is my absolute favourite buy is this Evil Twin Buzz Kill Babydoll dress.  I love the print on it, it looks like crazy storms with lightening.  I'm a bit unsure if the fit will suit my figure, but I'm giving it a good go! I really hope I can keep it!  It was the most expensive thing in my basket at £45, but it was down from £75.

4.  The Lavish Alice Sweatshirt in Floral Print is something I've been looking at for a while too.  I really love the bright blue rose print and think this would look nice with some leggings for the day, or even with my black jeans in the evening.  They also have matching trousers which I'd love to try, but I just don't think that a print on my bottom half would look very flattering on my pear shape.

5.  This is the Noisy May Harlequin Sweat.  I think that I like this, I'm a little unsure so it may be something that I send back.  But I need to see it in real life to decide if it's a real keeper.  I like that the print is in a t-shirt shape, and it's not something I've ever really seen before.

6.  You didn't think I'd not get a beauty buy in did you?  I got this Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top and Base Coat Duo for less than £14 with my extra discount, what a bargain.  I've had a mini of the Kensington Caviar Top Coat before, so I'm pleased I managed to get a full size with the base coat for what is essentially free.  It says this has sold out now, but keep your eyes peeled as it might come back!

7.  My favourite of my ridiculous underwear top up was this ASOS Boudoir Floral set.  The bra was a bargain at £8 and the matching bottoms were £4.50.

Edit: I had to send a few bits back!  Noo!  I was right about the fit for the Babydoll dress, and as much as I loved it, the shape of the dress just didn't flatter my figure at all!  I also had to send back the Smock dress for the same reason, but the colour when it arrived was a lot darker than it looked in the picture, which was disappointing.  The Motel dress was outrageously short, and by short, I mean it didn't even pull past my bum!  It could have passed for a long top - had to go back.  BUT.  I absolutely love everything else, even the Noisy May sweat which is gorgeous!

ASOS #TonightIs...

Tonight is...one for me, one for you!

If you didn't already know, I am a very lucky lady and am part of the Access All ASOS team.  As part of the #TonightIs campaign, I am here today to show my appreciation to my bestie, Kristina!  She doesn't know it yet...but she will...she will...

Kristina and I met at University in 2010 and have been pretty inseparable ever since.  We are so like minded and just know exactly what we are talking about...we got communication down to looking at eachother; no words necessary.

She is pretty hysterical, a bit dim at times, but hilariously dim (not that I can talk at all, I've had my moments, one particular one that I KNOW she will bring up at any opportunity...I thought the Philippines was somewhere where you went skiing.  Found out last year it's not.  Geography isn't my strong point...)

My friend Kristina definitely deserves a treat this year.  We both graduated University in September, and they were literally the BEST years of my entire life.  I've never laughed so hard ever, and so often.  We've gone from lugging car tyres through town, to having horrific spray tans, to tweeting R-Kelly his own lyrics on Twitter and loads more in between.  Best three years of my life.

She also laughs like this.  Almost always louder than any noise in the room.  Hilarious.  Love you, Kristina!

Life on the Inside: House of Hackney X ASOS

Tonight I have a super sneaky sneek peek for you.  Last week, I was invited to have one of the first looks at the House of Hackney X ASOS collection!  I'm feeling pretty excited about it to be honest; House of Hackney isn't a label that graces my wardrobe, but I absolutely love the bold prints.  It's a shame they're so out of my price range, because they are gorgeous pieces.

The new collection, Dalston Tart, is embracing the tartan trend this season with some pieces that I seriously love, but what I like the most about this collection is the encorporation of the black and white floral print.  The combination of tartan and floral patterns is something that I haven't seen this year, and isn't something I would have thought to have put together myself, but I really, really like it.

I've picked my favourite three items from the collection which I have compiled into my House of Hackney X ASOS Lust List...I really ought to try shortening that for future!  This year, I don't know why, but I've been really craving these baggy smock style dresses.  I am pear shaped, dramatically pear shaped you might say, so I just like the waist band on these sort of dresses as they tuck me in at my slimmest point.  I also think they look really nice with thick tights and, as always, chunky boots.

The tartan ticks all my boxes for a nice tartan too - I hate bright, garish tartan, and this is just a perfect, darker tartan.  I also love the sleeve length!  Oh...god, you know what, I just need this tartan dress full stop.  It has to be mine.

The floral printed items really remind me of some cushions that my Grandma used to have at her house, my favourite of the two is obviously the dress for the same fit reasons as above.  I am usually quite dark in the clothes that I wear, so this creamy dress would be really nice to switch it up a bit, whilst still leaving me with the chance to keep my own style.  I do like the t-shirt, but on my frame, I don't think it'd be flattering - but I really like the upturned sleeves so you get that hint of tartan coming through.

Adventure Time: Graduation

I am pretty late doing this post considering that my graduation was actually at the beginning of September!  You might have already seen some photos if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, if not, links are to the right, come follow and I promise you get to see pictures of my dog, cups of tea and some make up thrown in for good measure.

It's Freshers week at the University of Lincoln this week - this is where I went and I loved it.  In fact, I beyond loved it.  I almost wish that I had failed a year just so I got to go back for another year - and not even to be a lazy, bed-ridden student!  I want to go back to my classes!  If you're looking for a uni this year, look no further because Lincoln is amazing and you need to go.  Plus, you get to graduate at Lincoln Cathedral - amazing.

I graduated on the 5th September and it was the sunniest day ever!  So hot, especially under all those layers.  I spent ages planning what to wear and I knew I wanted a dress, and some pointy heels.  Obviously you get your black cap and gown, but the Lincoln colours for the hood was bright blue and yellow.  Lucky for me, cobalt blue has been a trending colour this season so there was plenty to choose from!  I went with a dress from Oasis, and you can find it and see it better online here - it was £45 but I think I got it with a student discount offer.

I wore ASOS Pasha Heels which were exactly what I was looking for, and for a bargain price of £25.  I even managed student discount on these too!  But...wide footed ladies, these are not for you.  Christ these are narrow, I had to full on talc my fat feet up to wedge them in the shoes because I didn't have time to find other shoes which were perfect in all aspects, including fit!  They were killing my feet by the end of the day!

I kept accessories simple, and opted for a gold cuff necklace from Dorothy Perkins.  I can't find this on the website to show you, but I believe it cost £10, and I've had a lot of wear out of it since I bought it!  Before I took these photographs, I actually had my first proper use of my Enrapture Heated Rollers, which I loved!  I am a total hair novice, but these were amazing and after a bit of practice, were pretty easy to use!  Sadly though, my hairspray didn't keep the curls in and they dropped pretty quickly...but my hair did look briefly amazing compared to my normal bolt straight hair.
