Dry Skin Saviours

There is literally no pleasing me; one minute I'm too hot, the next I'm too cold.  I moan when it's sunny, and I moan when it's snowing.  But if all this weather change brings about is havoc to my skin, then I feel like I have the right to moan a bit.

My skin this past week has been so dry which I think must have been caused by a combination of not drinking enough water these past few days, and the temperature changes outside.  Enter my dry skin saviours...

The above pack of heroes includes, my all time favourite moisturiser, Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, Soap and Glory Hand Food and Heel Genius, Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub and Carmex Cherry, which all help to give my parched skin an easy fix of hydration.

First up is Origins.  I cannot even put into words how much I love this moisturiser.  It was my first big skin care purchase and I've not looked back since I practically threw my money at the Boots Sales Assistant because I was so excited to smother my face in this.  A little definitely goes a long way, and the smell is amazing!  My skin is quite often prone to break outs, not at all as bad as I once was, but every now and again they crop up, but anyway, I was worried that this rich moisturiser might cause a break out but I've never had any trouble with it at all!

Because it has been quite hot lately, I've been paying particular attention to moisturising my feet so that I can bare to put them on show.  I've been using Soap and Glory's Heel Genius which I love.  It is a blue/green moisturiser that contains glycerin in so it's definitely a winner since glycerin is usually in my heavier winter creams.  I have to admit though that I need to wait until last minute to apply this because I can't stand feeling my feet so covered in moisturiser, but once I'm in bed it's all good and I wake up with smooth feet!

Soap and Glory's Hand Food is pretty much the only hand cream I've used in a long time.  The smell is amazing, it absorbs quickly and I don't feel like it leaves my hands too greasy.  If you haven't used this, you are missing out.

To keep my lips nice and smooth, I use the Bubblegum lip scrub from Lush.  It contains Jojoba oil which is a really nice and light moisturiser, and castor sugar to scrub the lips.  I had never used a lip scrub before this one and I love it.  You only need a tiny bit on the end of your finger, and you don't have to wash it off because the ingredients are edible and you can just lick your lips when done!  After I've done scrubbing and licking my lips, I apply a tiny amount of Carmex to keep my lips extra soft.

Have you tried any of these products?  What's your quick skin fix?

Maxfactor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara

In June, I took a trip to Cancun with my boyfriend and eleven of our friends.  We've been before so I knew that it would be scorching, and regular dips into the pool and the sea would be necessary!  Before I went, I was on the hunt for a waterproof mascara which would allow me to just swipe a quick slick of mascara on for my day by the pool and I ended up purchasing the Maxfactor False Lash Effect Waterproof mascara.  I took a Maxfactor Masterpiece Waterproof mascara last time we went and it was great, so I had high hopes for this one!

The packaging is the same as the other False Lash Effect mascaras, and is in a nice big tube with a bright metallic blue band so that you can identify it as the waterproof one from their range.  I find it really easy to hold and the larger than normal wand handle allows for an easy application.

The brush itself is quite large with small plastic bristles; plastic bristles aren't my favourite but they do the job nicely!  The mascara itself though was really quite watery, and I found that I had to be really careful after the application to avoid unwanted mascara smudges across my face.  I made the mistake on a night out of spritzing some Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray across my face, which made my mascara run.  Yup, you read that right.  Waterproof mascara ran after using make up setting spray.

Onto the day time...this mascara is just not waterproof for me remotely.  I used it for the first few days and then had to stop using it as I constantly had panda eyes in the pool.  Granted, they probably were far nicer panda eyes than if I had used a regular non-waterproof mascara, but panda eyes none the less.

The formula itself is really nice, and does enhance, lengthen and define my lashes nicely, but it just wasn't ideal for pool playing!  If you want a nice mascara that won't smudge from dancing in a hot club, then this is for you.  If you are a water baby like me and need constant dips into the pool, then I wouldn't recommend the Maxfactor False Lash Waterproof Mascara, and would suggest giving the Masterpiece Waterproof Mascara a go instead!

What's your favourite waterproof mascara?  Have you tried any of the waterproof mascaras from Maxfactor?

Wednesday Wishlist #1

1/2/3/4/5

So here it is...my first ever blog post and my first Wednesday Wishlist!

I've had my eye on quite a few things lately, as I've recently started a new job and am already spending my wage packet before it's hit my bank but I guess seeing as this is just a wishlist, there's no harm, right?

First up is something that I've been loving for quite a while now, and it's the Black Coconut scented Yankee Candle.  I absolutely love Yankee Candles, my regular purchase being the Black Cherry scent, but this one has caught my eye recently.  I've spotted it on Amazon, and might treat myself as I've got some vouchers that I've been saving on there!

The Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Peach on the Beach has also hit my wishlist thanks to all the great reviews on other beauty blogs.  I'm a big fan of the Revlon lip crayons and think that these Bourjois crayons will be great for summer because they're more glossy and this shade is perfect for all this sun.

This shark dress by Tee and Cake is calling my name after initially joking with my mum about wearing it for my graduation - I won't!  But it's still on my radar as a nice and bright summer dress!

I first spotted this vintage brass ankh ring on the Rock n Rose instagram, and it has finally been released today!  It's been on my wishlist for a while, and it's finally going into the basket!

Finally, my favourite of everything...Sephora's Disney Collection.  This perfume is in the nicest bottle, and is a part of the Ariel collection.  This Kiss the Girl perfume has notes of Bergamot, Wet Cucumber and Wild Lilac to name a few, and has really appealed to me as a nice, fresh summer scent.  And it's also my favourite ever film, so this needs to be mine, but unfortunately Sephora doesn't ship outside of the USA and Canada so this will never be part of my world.  Yes, that just happened.  I went there!

Have you bought anything from my wishlist?  What are your thoughts?
